FAQs

What is your approach to dog training?

We use positive reinforcement based methods when training dogs. The leading dog training organizations are in favor of this science-based training approach:

  • American Veterinary Society of Animal Behaviorists (AVSAB)

  • Society of Veterinary Behavior Technicians (SVBT)

  • Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT)

  • Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers (CCPDT)

  • International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants (IAABC)

  • Pet Professional Guild (PPG)

How many sessions will it take to train my dog?

Every dog is an individual.  Unfortunately I cannot estimate how long it will take for your dog without knowing more details. For basic training needs, plan for at least 10 sessions, and more sessions for more complex behavior modification.  I will be able to give you a better estimate after meeting you and your dog in person at a consultation.

Is my dog too old to be trained?

Dogs are never too old to change behavior and learn new things!

Do you offer pet sitting?

I pet sit on occasion for clients who have booked training sessions.  My primary focus is training, but I would like to help you meet all your pet care needs.
